Metakse Hakobyan, a member of the Justice faction in the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, criticized Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent press conference, stating that “for more than four hours, the language of capitulation prevailed.”
In a Facebook post, Hakobyan wrote: “What is being presented as ‘peace’ is, in reality, a renunciation of national sovereignty.”
She elaborated: “For more than four hours, the language of capitulation prevailed… Pashinyan’s self-confession today revealed that his governance is not a transitional phase toward empowerment, but a direct course toward psychological and military-political surrender. What is presented as ‘peace’ is, in fact, a rejection of national sovereignty. What is called ‘truth’ is actually propaganda to reconcile with defeat.
The speech was constructed to erase any notion of victory. A person loses their country not only in terms of territory, but also through words, and resistance is already labeled as adventurism.
Yet people have the right not only to disagree but also to seek dignity, return, and the language of struggle. My colleague Davit Galstyan speaks that language. He has already been imprisoned for it. But the responsibility for keeping that language alive lies with us — society, the public, and the national intellect. And justice will prevail, for it transcends human capacity,” the statement reads.
