Yerevan reclaims downtown plot from Ara Abrahamyan-linked company

The court has ruled in favor of a lawsuit filed by Armenia’s Prosecutor General, ordering that property owned by a company linked to Ara Abrahamyan be returned to the city of Yerevan.

According to data from the judicial information system, in a civil anti-corruption case presided over by Judge Avagyan, the Prosecutor General of Armenia filed a claim against Soglasie Armenia CJSC, with the participation of the Cadastre Committee as a third party, reports Panorama.am.

The case concerns the termination of the company’s ownership rights over a plot of land designated for development within Yerevan’s Northern Avenue expropriation zone and the annulment of its state registration. The court upheld the claim, deciding to terminate Soglasie Armenia CJSC’s ownership over the 2,859.4 sq. meter land plot and to invalidate the state registration, returning the plot to the Yerevan municipality.

The court also maintained a restraining order placed during the proceedings, which prohibited Soglasie Armenia from performing actions that could alter ownership of the undeveloped land at 32 Arami Street, Yerevan. This restriction will remain in force until the judgment is enforced, after which it will be lifted.

The case pertains to the site of the former Children’s World department store in downtown Yerevan, which prosecutors claim was unlawfully privatized. Soglasie Armenia is solely owned by businessman and Union of Armenians of Russia President Ara Abrahamyan.
