Low-magnitude earthquake hits 6 km northwest of Martuni

A magnitude 2.5 earthquake was registered in Armenia’s Gegharkunik Province, 6 km northwest of the town of Martuni, on July 31 at 22:26 local time (18:26 GMT). According to the Seismological Network of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Territorial Seismic Protection Service, the quake’s epicenter was at a depth of 10 km.

In the epicenter, the underground shock had an intensity of 3 on the MSK scale. The tremor was felt in the town of Martuni and the nearby villages of Dzoragyugh, Lichq, and Vardadzor, with an intensity of 2-3 points.

The seismic activity was registered at the geographic coordinates of 40.18° north latitude and 45.25° east longitude.
