Arsen Julfalakyan, a former Member of Parliament and Olympic silver medalist, has raised concerns over what he describes as the total lack of internal disagreement within Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party. In a post on his Facebook page, he claimed that not a single party member has ever publicly disagreed with any initiative proposed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“It is impossible in life for two rational people to agree on everything, without exception, for years—whether it’s a parent, spouse, friend, or leader. It just doesn’t happen that way,” Julfalakyan wrote.
He emphasized that Civil Contract has held power for 7.5 years and has never shown any public dissent, even over major decisions such as “ceding Artsakh, recognizing it as part of Azerbaijan, attacking the Church, denying the Genocide, seizing the electricity grid from its owner, or evicting the Aravot newspaper from its office.”
He also criticized decisions related to “organizing a budget-heavy Snoop Dogg concert during the blockade of Artsakh, pushing a national education reform led by the unqualified, a mayor beating someone live on air, and state fund embezzlement (ANIF).”
“There is no disagreement. They are 100% in agreement. You decide for yourself—what is that called?” Julfalakyan concluded.
