Hybrid attacks against Armenia are expected to escalate in the coming days, presumes Arsen Torosyan, Chair of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Health Care. In a Facebook post, he called on citizens “not to fall for provocations and to rely on official information sources.”
"In the near future, hybrid attacks on our state will intensify, as we move closer to achieving our goal of establishing peace. This, in turn, will significantly strengthen our sovereignty and independence," Torosyan wrote.
He asserted that “much of Armenia's political spectrum is working against this objective, guided by external forces that oppose peace in the region.”
"Such powers find their current presence meaningless in a peaceful South Caucasus. They do not want independent, sovereign countries here—ones that can resolve disagreements and build trust on their own."
Torosyan urged citizens to resist “all forms of disinformation and manipulation that aim to derail the peace process.”
"We must not give in to old or new schemes designed to distract us from building a sovereign, peaceful state," he said. "Every citizen of Armenia has an invaluable role in this challenging but essential journey. I am confident that by recognizing our role, we will firmly support our statehood."
"Follow official news and stay positive—because everything will be fine," the statement concluded.
On August 8, U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to host Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the White House. The trilateral meeting will follow separate bilateral talks.
A senior White House official, speaking anonymously to The Washington Post, indicated that a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan may be announced during the meeting with Trump.
