Car accident reports to be simplified soon

The Armenian Motor Insurers Bureau has announced that a new change is coming to the system for reporting compulsory auto insurance (CTPL) accidents, making the procedure more centralized and accessible.

“In case of an CTPL accident, you will no longer need to search for your insurance company’s contact details or wait for availability. Just call 1-02, and your case will be registered through a unified call center, which will coordinate the entire process,” the Bureau stated.

The new system offers several advantages to drivers, regardless of their insurance provider:

  • First, it ensures fast response and registration without extra steps.
  • Second, it saves time, as there is no longer a need to make multiple calls or search for contacts.
  • Third, it will reduce the likelihood of traffic congestion at accident sites by facilitating quicker vehicle removal.
  • Finally, the simplified procedure is expected to reduce stress and ease the emotional tension often experienced by those involved in accidents.

Accidents must be reported to 1-02 within 20 minutes, a change from the previous 40-minute window.

“We urge drivers to strictly observe this time limit to avoid potential complications and ensure a smooth process,” the announcement added.
