Foreign Ministry presents regional diplomacy plans in Kapan

During the ambassadorial gathering in Kapan, Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan presented Armenia’s foreign policy agenda, focusing on cooperation with Eurasian, Asian, and Asia-Pacific countries.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions with Safaryan addressed the key directions of cooperation with Eurasian states, alongside issues currently on the agenda in Armenia-Russia relations.

It was noted that Armenia has made visible progress in strengthening strategic partnerships through active political dialogue with countries in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. A new diplomatic agenda is emerging, encompassing upcoming cooperation with China, Japan, and India. Armenia’s application for membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was also discussed.

Participants emphasized the importance of identifying new opportunities with Central Asian and Far Eastern countries to better employ regional infrastructure and connectivity. In this context, special attention was paid to active dialogue with Kazakhstan.

Safaryan underscored the importance of expanding the economic diplomacy component, especially in the context of deepening ties with Southeast Asian countries.

The meeting also touched on regional developments and prospects for forming mutually beneficial and strategic partnerships.
