Narek Mkrtchyan appointed Armenian ambassador to U.S.

Narek Mkrtchyan has officially assumed the position of Armenia’s ambassador to the United States, replacing Lilit Makunts.

Mkrtchyan, who previously served as Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, has been relieved of that role and appointed as Armenia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the U.S.

The relevant decrees were signed by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.

Lilit Makunts previously held the ambassadorial post in Washington. A presidential decree on her recall has already been published on the official website of the presidency.

On August 22, the Armenian Embassy in Washington hosted a farewell event in honor of Ambassador Lilit Makunts, marking the conclusion of her term.
