Genocide Museum ex-chief targets Education Minister

Former director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan announced on Facebook that a protest will soon be held demanding the resignation of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Minister Zhanna Andreasyan.

Demoyan accused the authorities of corrupt and unaccountable behavior, claiming that since 2018, “pseudo-intellectuals” have sought to impose a false worldview and values on younger generations through school textbooks, particularly in the humanities.

He argued that the government’s Academic City project and state-sponsored festivals are not only “nonsense and cultural kitsch” but also serve as cover for large-scale embezzlement schemes. He claimed enormous sums are also wasted on low-quality textbooks printed in massive numbers.

Demoyan further alleged that Andreasyan, along with other officials, continues to benefit from a climate of impunity, while Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan pursues “neo-Bolshevik” cultural revisionism with academic support. He accused them of disregarding the symbolic significance of Tsitsernakaberd, the Armenian Genocide Memorial, in pursuit of their political agenda.

“Zhanna Andreasyan must resign and face criminal responsibility for failed textbooks, desecration of Tsitsernakaberd, corruption, and waste of state resources,” Demoyan wrote, calling on parents, teachers, and citizens to resist.

He said the upcoming protest will also seek to hold Andreasyan legally accountable.
