CB: Armenia’s economy shows stronger momentum

Central Bank Governor Martin Galstyan told parliament that while international financial institutions project Armenia’s economic growth for 2025 in the range of 4.9–5.3%, recent developments point to the possibility of a higher outcome, Panorama.am reports.

“According to estimates by various financial institutions and market participants, Armenia’s economic growth in 2025 is expected to be within 4.9–5.3%. However, recent months have shown signals that growth by year’s end could be stronger,” Galstyan said.

He noted that since the beginning of the year, economic activity has remained close to the long-term sustainable growth trend, with signs of acceleration in recent months. This momentum has been driven largely by export-oriented services, including IT, tourism, and financial sectors.

“Throughout the year, economic activity has been significantly boosted by strong growth in construction. At the same time, fluctuations observed since the start of the year reflect short-term factors and highlight uncertainties regarding growth sustainability, long-term prospects, and domestic demand trends,” Galstyan added.

According to Armenia’s Statistical Committee, in the first half of 2025 the strongest industrial growth was recorded in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, with an increase of 11.5% compared to the same period last year.
