Grigoryan meets EBRD director, praises cooperation on key projects

Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan met with Elisabetta Falcetti, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) Regional Director for Turkey and the Caucasus. George Akhalkatsi, head of the EBRD’s Yerevan office, also attended the meeting. The parties discussed the progress of joint initiatives with the bank.

Both sides reviewed regional developments and emphasized the importance of unblocking transport and communication routes.

Grigoryan highly praised the EBRD’s cooperation, noting its strategic relevance for key sectors in Armenia.

The discussion also touched on Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace initiative and the results of the recent negotiations in Washington, highlighting their importance for fostering regional stability and peace.

In Washington, Armenian, Azerbaijani, and U.S. leaders—Nikol Pashinyan, Ilham Aliyev, and Donald Trump—officially agreed to launch the Trump Route.

"The route will allow Azerbaijan to reach Nakhichevan while fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty. Armenia is also forming an exclusive partnership with the U.S. to develop this corridor. The agreement may extend up to 99 years, with a promise to renew it for another 99 years afterward. Major infrastructure developments are expected, and U.S. companies are eager to invest heavily, bringing economic benefits to all three countries," Trump said.

On September 11, Pashinyan clarified that Armenia did not lease land to the U.S. for 99 years but granted construction rights.
