On September 21, the Mother Armenia movement officially announced the creation of a political party bearing the same name. The decision was made during the founding congress, where Andranik Tevanyan, the leader of the movement and nominee for party chair, introduced the new organization.
Tevanyan stated that the primary goal of forming the party is to remove the current government and build a new reality through broad national consolidation.
“We clearly understand that no political force can solve our country’s problems alone. That’s why we call on genuine opposition forces to unite against this government… Mother Armenia is ready to serve as a unifying platform and to build bridges among all true national and social opposition forces. Together, we will succeed, I have no doubt. Don’t fear someone who is already afraid,” he said.
He emphasized that the Gyumri model demonstrates how the ruling Civil Contract party can be removed from power and warned that failing to do so poses a serious risk, including the collapse of the Third Republic.
“We know the roots of Pashinyan’s so-called ‘Fourth Republic’ vision. His real Armenia and Fourth Republic projects suspiciously align with the Western Azerbaijan narrative being promoted in Azerbaijan. All these agendas are guided by a single center aiming to repeat the fate of Artsakh in Armenia.”
Tevanyan acknowledged that Armenia cannot face Turkey and Azerbaijan alone and therefore must deepen its strategic ties with Russia and Iran to balance regional threats.
“Pashinyan understands this very well. He knows that if Armenia remains in the Russian security orbit, his personal power is in jeopardy. That’s why, to preserve his rule and avoid legal accountability, he’s willing to destroy the Republic of Armenia just to save himself. Our task must be to relegate him to the dustbin of history and rescue the country,” he added.
Tevanyan also stated that the Mother Armenia movement would continue its operations despite the formation of the political party.
Later, it was announced that Sona Aghekyan was elected chair of the party’s oversight committee. Armenak Danielyan and Arshak Sargsyan were chosen as committee members.
The party board will include Samvel Haroyan, Areknaz Manukyan, Yervand Bozoyan, Ani Karapetyan, Gevorg Stepanyan, Stepan Danielyan, Derenik Malkhasyan, Grigor Iskandaryan, Harutyun Khachikyan, Hasmik Sargsyan, and Andranik Tevanyan.
Andranik Tevanian was unanimously elected as party president.
Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 2026.
