Armenia’s Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan declared that with all the tools available to him, he will achieve the opening of the Armenia-Turkey border so that Armenia can develop, stressing that the current situation is a result of past policies. He made the statement at a session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration, Radar Armenia reported.
“For our country, closed borders are a risk, because Turkey and Azerbaijan have closed them to neutralize Armenia economically and solve their own problems more easily,” he said.
The minister assured that he will not allow the same course to continue and “ultimately destroy the state.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently stated at the UN General Assembly that the normalization process between Ankara and Yerevan is ongoing.
