MP: no barriers to full Armenia–Turkey normalization

Sargis Khandanyan, a member of Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract faction, said Turkish Airlines is preparing to start flights to Yerevan, though no exact date has been announced yet.

Speaking to reporters in the National Assembly, Khandanyan noted that the airline's entry into Armenia’s aviation market has always been on the agenda but was delayed due to political reasons.

“At the last meeting between the special representatives of Armenia and Turkey, cooperation in the aviation sector was discussed. Now we see Turkish Airlines announcing plans to start flights to Yerevan. I don’t know exactly when that will happen, but it will be soon,” he said.

Khandanyan added that there are no obstacles to full normalization between Armenia and Turkey, emphasizing that Yerevan is waiting for concrete steps from Ankara.

On September 30, the National Security Council of Turkey, chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, discussed the normalization process with Armenia.
