MP says Pashinyan bears main blame for 44-day war

MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the “I Have Honor” faction wrote on Facebook that after reading the foreword and conclusion of the parliamentary commission’s report on the 44-day war, he strongly believes that “if it wasn’t written by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan himself, then it was clearly edited by him.”

He criticized the report’s terminology and international accusations, claiming they mirror the rhetoric used by Pashinyan and pro-government media over recent years. Abrahamyan argued this explains why the report has not been made public.

“No matter how much Pashinyan has tried to shift the blame for the defeat onto the army or other internal and external forces, it is evident even in this document that he is the main person responsible for this disastrous chapter in our history and the subsequent chain of losses,” Abrahamyan wrote.

He noted that the report barely addresses or completely avoids discussion of key phases of the war, which he believes is a deliberate attempt to hide the fact that poor decisions, delayed responses, or lack of action by political leaders led the country into military, diplomatic, and strategic collapse.

While the report mentions certain units that disobeyed orders or withdrew from positions, Abrahamyan emphasized that the overall message confirms the army fought bravely under highly unfavorable conditions. “Our soldiers fought tenaciously. Losing with such an army was only possible due to a complete failure of political leadership and misjudgment of the strategic environment,” he concluded.

Earlier, Abrahamyan also stated that while none of the political figures responsible for the war are in prison, families of fallen soldiers face persecution instead.

The 44-day war report has been submitted to the National Assembly’s confidential archives.
