A delegation led by Armenia’s Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan participated in the annual meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, held in Washington, D.C.
During several bilateral meetings, representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Armenia held substantive and productive discussions with senior IMF officials. Topics included Armenia’s overall macroeconomic environment, fiscal policy, recent trends in the sector, and economic forecasts.
The discussions also covered economic indicators targeted under a potential new Stand-By Arrangement with IMF support and strategic directions for further collaboration. The need for investment projects aimed at reforms and resilient infrastructure, particularly within the peace agenda, was emphasized, alongside the importance of strengthening regional economic ties.
The possible benefits of a new IMF program for enhancing Armenia’s economic resilience, sustaining reform momentum, and fostering a more prosperous future were also addressed.
At the conclusion of the meetings, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the existing partnership and exploring new avenues for joint initiatives.
In parallel, Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hakob Arshakyan took part in the “Parliamentary Engagement 2025” event during the IMF and World Bank 2025 annual meetings in Washington. In his speech, Arshakyan stressed the importance of effective collaboration between international financial institutions and parliaments in implementing strategic investment initiatives in Armenia, such as the Engineering City, Academic City, and the Crossroads of Peace project.
