“Armenia-Diaspora” second forum has started in Yerevan today. The first plenary session took place in the Karen Demirchian sports-cultural complex. Armenian president Robert Kocharian, Catholicos of All Armenian Garegin II, Cilicia Catholicos Aram I, NKR president Arkady Ghukasian, Armenian foreign minister Vardan Oskanian, head of the state commission for forum organization, head of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abramian welcomed the delegates. The consideration of the following issues is on the agenda: 1. Political relations and propaganda activities. 2. Information and press. 3. Armenia-Diaspora organizational and structural development. 4. Business and economy. 5.Science, education and culture. The first meeting was followed by the visit of the memorial to the 1915 Armenian Genocide victims. The forum participants honored the memory of the Armenian genocide victims in Ottoman Turkey and got back to the work consisting of seminars. Standpoints of Armenia and Diaspora regarding national priorities and challenges as well as issues regarding the Karabakh conflict settlement, Armenian genocide recognition, relations with Turkey and other countries of the region, policy conducted towards the Middle East and Europe were discussed in the course of the “Political relations and propaganda activities” seminar. The issues regarding the expansion of the spectrum of the activities of the Armenian lobby and increase of Armenia’s role in international structures are going to be discussed as well. “Information and press” seminar participants will pay the main attention to the issues on the Internet potential using for establishment of the general information field, coverage of the Diaspora life in Armenia, etc. “Armenia-Diaspora organizational and structural development” seminar will be dedicated to specification of the national priorities under the conditions of current dynamic changes in the world, solutions of problems and resolving of Armenia-Diaspora disagreements. “Business and economy” seminar participants will consider the issues regarding the further development of the Armenian economy, current problems, expansion of the economic field, creation of new jobs and realization of new programs. “Science, education and culture” seminar participants will discuss the issues regarding the national education, Armenian studies, curriculum realization, protection of national heritage, general scientific-cultural strategy, development of Armenia-Diaspora relations. The forum final plenary session with the concluding speeches, decisions and statements will take place May 28.
