ARMENIAN DEFENSE MINISTER TO DISCUSS ISSUES OF BILATERAL MILITARY COOPERATION IN WASHINGTON

In the course of the visit to the USA march 17-22 Armenian defense minister Serge Sarkiasian and the Pentagon leadership will discuss the perspectives of cooperation in military sphere and will sign the program on cooperation for 2002. As Serge Sarkiasian stated today first of all concrete projects that could be financed in the framework of the $4.3 million US aid to Armenian armed forces would be discussed at the opening of the Armenian national center on mine clearing in Echmiadzin. «We would like to use the main part of the aid for acquiring communication facilities for antiaircraft defense since nowadays the system of the control of the antiaircraft defense is important for defense capacity of any army», Sarkisian noted.
