Turkish ex-President Suleyman Demirel met with the group of the Armenian and Azeri journalists, who visited Ankara. «I am glad to see the journalists of the countries of the region together. Unfortunately, after the collapse of the USSR the independent Armenia and Azerbaijan did not manage to continue the cooperation and appeared on the path of the war, from which no one ever benefits,» – the Turkish ex-President noted. Meanwhile, in his opinion, creation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in spite of the existence of acute contradictions between the regional states represents progress in the regional cooperation. Demirel also expressed hope for successful resolution of the regional conflicts and establishment of stable peace in the region. Only in this case all the three South Caucasian states can maintain their independence, Turkish ex-President noted. Signing of an agreement on trilateral cooperation between the Armenian, Azeri and Turkish journalists, which the Turkish ex-President also joined, preceded Demirel’s meeting with the mass media representatives, radio «Liberty» reports.
