“All allegations of public stakeholders that Armenia’s justice ministry did not called for public discussions about amendments and addenda to the RA law “On public organizations” are not true. Discussions were held both with local experts and representatives of international organizations,” the RA minister of justice Gevorg Danielyan told November 26 the parliamentary hearings at the National Assembly of Armenia. According to the minister, the law was drafted at the initiative of non-governmental organizations, not the government.
Publication of financial reports of public organizations once a year is called to ensure their transparency and prevent money laundering, Mr. Danielyan said. According to him, amendments and addenda to the RA law “On Public Organizations” have been necessitated by country’s security. He also informed that Internet site will be created where NGOs can publish their financial statements free of charge.
