On December 1-5, a delegation from RA Public Council carried out an official visit to Moscow to meet with RF Public Chamber representatives, said Grigor Badiryan, Chair of Public Council Committee on State Affairs. During the visit, parties signed a comprehensive memorandum on bilateral cooperation, he told Wednesday a news conference in Yerevan.
“Establishing ties with Russia’s Public Chamber is of key importance to us since this experience is very useful,” he said, adding that Armenian delegates also participated in the regular board of trustees session of the international association of similar structures. “In November, the Public Council was offered to join the organization. The proposal was accepted as a result of subsequent voting,” Grigor Badiryan said, adding that the process would take long time.
“The organization’s agenda comprised an issue concerning the acceptance of new members based on the 6+1 format,” Badiryan stressed, adding that Armenia’s name was thus included in the list of countries having certain experience in the sphere.
“Our delegation has been invited to New York to participate in Association’s General Assembly. Final decision on our joining the organizations will be made during the session,” he said.
