Today, December 25, Yerevan State University Council, headed by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan held an annual sitting.
Summing up 2009 results, Armenian President noted that the past year was a special one to the University.
“YSU, which celebrated its 90th anniversary this year, is a leader in the sphere of science and education; it continues to make us proud,” Serzh Sargsyan emphasized.
YSU rector Aram Simonyan, for his part, said: “A 5-year strategic plan to be ratified today will allow for implementation of programs aimed at education quality increase. In the long term, we plan to develop into research institute.”
According to him, the University research laboratories need to be upgraded with technical equipment. The budget of over AMD 7 billion will be enough to implement programs of primary importance.
At present, the number of YSU students comprises 16 000.
