On January 21, Naregatsi Art Center will launch “Meeting with Film Director, Photographer Don Askarian” four-day program which includes exhibitions, film screenings and master classes.
The meeting will enable young film directors to exhibit their works for participation in master classes, Naregatsi Art Center’s press office reported.
Don Askarian was born in Stepanakert, Nagorno Karabakh in 1949. In 1967, he moved to Moscow where he studied history and art. He worked as an assistant-director and film critic for a year after his study. In 1975-1977, Askarian was imprisoned. In 1978, he emigrated from the USSR to West Berlin. For the last 25 years he has lived and worked in Germany, The Netherlands and Armenia, where he founded his own film companies. Askarian is a prize-winner at several international film festivals.
