PACE ARMENIAN DELEGATION HEAD THINKS YEREVAN NOT INTERESTED IN DEPRIVATION OF MEMBERSHIP OF AZERBAIJAN IN EUROPEAN COUNCIL

Armenia is not interested in that Azerbaijan might be deprived of the European council membership. The PACE Armenian delegation head Hovanes Hovannisyan stated this today. The official position of Armenia, according to him, adds up to that Yerevan is interested in the establishment of democracy in Azerbaijan. It is possible to negotiate only with civilized and democratic state. The Armenian delegation representative Armen Rustamyan had a speech in the same spirit at the meeting of the PACE session. According to Hovanes Hovannesian, there is a basis to think that Azerbaijan will be deprived of the PACE mandate if it does not meet the undertaken obligations until April 2002.
