The members of Armenian-Turkish “Reconciliation commission” representing Armenian part have stated about their refusal to participate in the activities of this body. It the statement signed by Alexander Arzoumanian, David Hovhannisian, Van Z.Kriloryan and Andranik Migranian is stated that the reason of this decision is that the Turkish representatives asked the International Center for Transitional Justice to refrain from proceeding with its study of the applicability of UN Genocide Convention to the Armenian Genocide. Earlier the commission had reached a decision to appeal to the International Center to return its verdict regarding the event at the beginning of last century. “We continue to believe that there is a need for full normalization of relations between Armenians and Turks and between Armenia and Turkey. The accomplishment of these essential goals is impossible without the contacts between members of Armenian and Turkish civil societies”, is said in the statement.
