Head of the Census and Demography Department of the RA National Statistical Service Karine Kuyumjyan said that $6.7mln are required to conduct Armenia’s population census and to summarize its results by the end of 2013.
According to her, the state budget will cover only 21% of the entire expenses. “Thus, applications were sent to donor organizations to secure the remaining share of expenses. In January, the World Bank Yerevan Office called on the public to assist the census operation in Armenia,” Kuyumjyan told a press conference in Yerevan.
Besides, the Indian government offered technical support, while the Norwegian and Italian governments are also expected to assist.
Armenia’s population census will be conducted from October 21-30, 2011, with the results summary by the end of 2013.
