World Wild Fund Armenia Director Karen Manvelyan refuted information that, allegedly, a restaurant is constructed at Khosrov reserve. “The circulated news is a disinformation,” Manvelyan told a press conference.
Head of the Specially Protected Territories of the Armenian Ministry of Nature Protection Aram Aghasyan noted that a center of visits is constructed in Bayburd region. The construction aims to develop tourism.
For her part, Chairperson of the UN Environment Program National Committee of Armenia Karine Danielyan noted that the construction indeed aims to develop ecotourism. However, there are concerns that this activity will be transferred into a business in future. “The construction already disturbs the natural balance of the reserve. Ecotourism suggests a special approach, and the entire income should be directed to ecological purposes,” concluded Danielyan.
