Yesterday founder of “Christian-Democratic Union” Party, former deputy of the National Assembly Azat Arshakian was accused of illegal ammunition and arms storage. Arrest is chosen as preventive punishment. Arshakian was detained September 14 after the officers of Department on organized crime prevention of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, central administrative board of CID and Office of Public Prosecutor General had discovered 230 grenades, 33 explosive packets, 13 thousand cartridges of different caliber, 72 signal cartridges, 288 L-detonators, a hand grenade and other ammunition on the territory belonging to him. The search was held in course of operational investigation concerning the fact of murder of Advisor of Prime Minister of the Armenian Government, Chief of Control Office under the Government Gagik Poghosian. This is the fourth time Arshakian is arrested. In 70-80-es he had served his sentence for “anti-Soviet activity” three times.
