ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO BRING A SUIT AGAINST “ARMENTEL”

At today’s press conference Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication of Armenia Vaghinak Kocharian reported the Government intended to bring a suit against “ArmenTel” Company, which had violated the commitments undertaken and had introduced payment by minute for city calls, evading the requirements foreseen in the contract concluded with the Government. The claim will be filed if the Executive Director’s decision on new tariff policy is confirmed at the session of “ArmenTel” Council of Directors to be held in the near future. According to the contract, “ArmenTel” Direction had been obliged to inform corresponding bodies about imposing payment by minute 60 days before implementing it. Notification was received by the Government only 14 days before introduction of the new tariff policy. The document was in English and it contradicts the Law on Language.
