ARMENIAN PRESIDENT IS AGAINST ARTIFICIAL EXTENSION OF CST

YEREVAN, May 26. /Mediamax/. President of Armenia Robert Kocharian, elected Friday the chairman of the Collective Security Council (CSC), said today in Yerevan that he sees no sense in the artificial extension of Collective Security Treaty (CST) member-countries.
Kocharian said this at the joint press conference with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko. According to Kocharian, only those countries have entered the Treaty, the priorities of which coincide in the security sphere.
Lukashenko said in his turn that much will depend on whether “we as CST member-countries will want this or that country’s accession to the Treaty”. At the same time, he noted, no CIS country has expressed willingness to join the Treaty so far. –0–
