50 000 trees may be cut down in Kapan for deposit exploration

50 000 trees may be cut down in Kapan because of exploration of polymetallic deposit.

“The Mayor of Kapan was speaking of 7 000 trees. However, his words prove untrue. We are losing Zangezur due to the operation of the copper and molybdenum combine, which gave rise to various illnesses. Sick infants are born in Kajaran. Is it Kapan’s turn?” said Silva Adamyan, chairperson of Ecological Public Coalition.

Ecologists will send a letter to the management of Canada’s Dundee Precious Metals, the owner of Dino Gold Mining Company, and Canadian Prime Minister. They also intend to request the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to stop financing the deposit exploration.
