NAGORNO KARABAKH STATUS ISSUE IS STILL ON THE NEGOTIATIONS TABLE, CAVANAUGH SAID

YEREVAN, May 19. /Mediamax/. The issue of determining the future status of Nagorno Karabakh is still on the table of the negotiations, U.S. Co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group Carey Cavanaugh said in the interview to the special correspondent of Mediamax in the USA before the visit of the mediators to the region, which began Friday.
Cavanaugh would not foresee the date the Karabakh conflict will finally be solved. “Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan and the mediators work as fast as possible”, the diplomat stressed. According to him, the details of the future peace agreement are very important. Carey Cavanaugh noted also that much depends on the extent to which the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will manage to prepare their populations toward the need for compromise resolutions. “The presidents must present to their people the possibilities of peace achievement and gain their support”, the American mediator stressed. –0–
