PM SPOKE AGAINST ARMENIA’S JOINING RUSSIA-BELARUS UNION

YEREVAN, May 18. /Mediamax/. Prime Minister of Armenia Andranik Margarian expressed today his disagreement with the opinion that Russia and Belarus were impatiently waiting for Armenia to join their union.
Speaking at a press conference in Yerevan, Margarian said that as a leader of the Republican Party, he was against joining of Armenia to the Russia-Belarus Union. He said he was sure Armenia was able and it had to develop its relations with many countries both on bilateral basis and within the frameworks of the existing unions, particularly, the CIS.
According to Prime Minister, there is no a clear understanding about the essence of the union in Russia and Belarus, not to mention the joining of new members. Nothing hinders us from development of bilateral relations with Moscow and Minsk, Margarian stresses. He also said that he was against the idea that by joining one or another union Armenia would solve all its problems. “Solution of Armenia’s problems depends from ourselves. Otherwise we will be treated as a serve, and not as a friend,” Prime Minister said.
Margarian expressed his contentment by the level of Armenian-Russian political, economic and military relations. –0–
