The outcomes of the program on training of young specialists in the energy sector were summarized in Yerevan on January 25, 2011.
The innovative 4 month training program was launched Norsk Energi (NE) on September 7, 2010, with a purpose to provide multi-stakeholder benefits within the small hydropower sector in Armenia, working in close partnership with local Partner Hydroenergetica.
The program is financed by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop and execute a technical capacity-building program for the small hydropower sector. It is supported by Ameriabank, as well as by the RA Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Environment, GAF-RE-KfW and Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction.
“The program reveals the investment potential. Young specialist have prepared business plans for reconstruction and building of 6 hydropower plants. Armenia is interested in processing pure energy and attaches importance to ecological issues,” Project Head Eun Joo Yi said.
For his part, director of the German-Armenian Fund Gevorg Tumanyan said that development of hydro energy is one of the government’s priorities.
He also informed that the Fund will continue financing renewable energy projects in the republic.
