ARMENIA HOLDS PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS AND CONSTITUTIONAL REFORMS REFERENDUM TODAY

Today, on May 25, Armenia holds parliamentary elections and a constitutional referendum. The country constituency is to elect 131 members to the supreme legislative body of the country. Almost 300 candidates will run for 56 single-mandate seats. By party lists, 75 seats are sought by 21 parties and blocs: the parties “Labor, Law, Unity,” Ramkavar-Azatakan, “National Accord,” “United Labor Party,” “People’s Party,” “Regenerated Communist Party,” Republican Party, Dashnaktsoutyun, Liberal-Democratic Union, “Legal State,” “National Unity,” “Mighty Fatherland,” Armenian National Movement (former rulers of Armenia), “Fist of Armenian Aryans,” the blocs “Intellectual Armenia, Mission Free Hayk,” “Dignity, Democracy, Homeland,” “Justice,” “Union of Manufacturers and Women,” the “Justice” Public Political organization and the Christian-Democratic Union.
