YEREVAN, May 16. /Mediamax/. Armenia is ready to submit for discussion of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) the issue of protection of Armenian historical-architectural monuments in Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, chairman of the permanent parliamentary commission for foreign affairs, Hovanes Hovanesian told Mediamax in an interview.
He said the initiative is caused by the fact that there are a lot of such monuments beyond Armenia’s borders and they are not protected by the states of the Council of Europe, in particular, by Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. Hovanesian reminded about the barbarous actions toward Armenian khachkars (cross-stones) in Nakhichevan in early 90’s. –0–
