YEREVAN, May 15. /Mediamax/. Russia is ready to be a guarantor in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, however, in the opinion of the Russian side, the final resolution must be achieved only by the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Secretary of the Security Council of RF, Vladimir Rushailo said today at the meeting with Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliev.
As RIA “Novosti” reports, Rushailo stressed that “no one can feel keenly the verge between the acceptable and unacceptable in this issue better than the heads of Armenia and Azerbaijan”. RF SC Secretary said that Russia will support the decision the heads of the two states will take.
Rushailo agreed with Aliev that the normal work of the summit of the “Caucasian 4” (Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia), the preparation for which was specifically discussed at today’s meeting, is impossible without the settlement of the Karabakh issue.
Aliev, in his turn, noted that the cooperation of the four states assume normal mutual relations in all spheres, and this is “impossible if two of the four states are in a state of military conflict”. –0–
