YEREVAN, May 15. /Mediamax/. The National Assembly of Armenia continued today discussion of government’s report on fulfillment of privatization program for 1998-2000.
According to the submitted document, from 688 enterprises 251 are already privatized, other 43 are in privatization process. 54 enterprises were privatized through tenders. Privatization proceeds total 70, 89 bln drams.
According to the report, the privatization rates have decreased as compared with 1996-1997. Earlier privatization was being carried out through free subscription for shares, while now a liberal mechanism is established. It is considered that the privatization rates have decreased because of the big debts of the enterprises and the insufficient condition of the material-technical base. –0–
