YEREVAN, May 7. /Mediamax/. The Vice-speaker of Armenian National Assembly Tigran Torosian said today in an interview to Mediamax that there were no prerequisites for parliament discussions on Karabakh settlement.
He said the recent statement of the leaders of all the factions and groups, expressing the common position of parliament on Karabakh settlement, was “enough”. At the same time, the vice-speaker says, it is impossible to settle the Karabakh problem without parliament hearings and public discussion. It will take place after the mediators make a new proposal, according to Torosian. “Armenian President has spoken about it several times and there are no reasons not to believe him,” Torosian stressed.
Commenting on the recent visit to Baku of the Minsk group American co-chairman Carey Cavanaugh, Torosian noted that ” there is no need to seek a hidden sub-context there”.
“It is natural that there are issue which must be discussed and defined only with one of the parties of the conflict. In this case there is no sense to maintain a formal equilibrium in negotiation process,” Tigran Torosian says. –0–
