YEREVAN, May 3. /Mediamax/. Armenian press is “partly free”, the annual report of Freedom House, dedicated to the Press Freedom Day, says.
Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldavia, Turkey and others have also entered the list of countries with “Partly Free” print media. Azerbaijan has entered the category of countries with “Not Free” press.
The report of the Freedom House notes that officials in Armenia have the “economic lever” of influence on the press. “Print media in Armenia are, for the most part, unprofitable and financially dependent on sponsors and/or patrons who are often intent on promoting their own political or economic interests”, the reports states. –0–
