YEREVAN, May 3. /Mediamax/. In November-December 2000, enterprises of defense industry of Kirghizia have sold more than 3 million sub-machine gun cartridges worth totally US$180 thousand to the Defense Ministry of Armenia, “Moskovski Komsomolets” Russian paper writes today.
“Airplanes of Armenian air forces were used during secret ammunition supplies, which guaranteed the safety of the deal”.
Quoting the documents of the OSCE, UN Security Council and CIS the paper says that supplying Armenia with such quantity of cartridges, the Bishkek machine-building plant violates the embargo of different international organizations imposed on ammunition supplies to Armenia and Azerbaijan until the war between the two countries ends.
The paper does not rule out that the Azerbaijani government may rise the issue of ammunition supplies to Armenia at the forthcoming summit of heads of CIS countries to be held in Minsk, June. “In that case Kirghizia and Armenia will be obliged to find logical explanations for the “commercial project” on supply of three million cartridges from Bishkek to Yerevan,” “Moskovski Komsomolets” says. –0–
