YEREVAN, May 3. /Mediamax/. Armenia would never make compromises on Karabakh for the pipeline to pass through its territory, Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian said speaking to Austrian newspaper Kurier 1 May 2001.
“At the moment, the issue is not on the table, even though experts think that the route through Armenia is the most economical one,” he noted.
The FM expresses hope that when the Karabakh conflict is solved, Turkey will give up its blockage against Armenia and establish normal economic relations. “Armenia wants to be a bridge between Europe and Central Asia, between north and south. Opening the border with Turkey would raise our prospects.” –0–
