Apple Q1 shipments expected to top 6.5 million

Having entered the tablet market in style, with 15 million sold units in 2010, Apple is claimed to be very confident about 2011's delivery and is expecting to get from its suppliers up to between 16 million and 18.5 million units (iPad + iPad 2) by mid-year.

The Q1 shipments are expected to top 6.5 million, with 2-3 million being iPad 2 models, while in Q2, when the device will be available in some 26 countries, the Cupertino company is set to get between 10 and 12 million units. If growth predictions will be confirmed then Apple will sell more iPads in the first half of 2011 than it did in 2010, and the numbers will go up even further in 2H 2011, according to tcmagazine.

In all, Apple's iPad orders could reach 40 million units this year.
