The British embassy in Armenia held an event dedicated to the role of public organizations in society on March 9.
This year representatives of Armenia’s public organizations cooperating with the British embassy in Armenia were invited to this annual event to refer to the achievements of 2010.
As part of the event, debates on the role of public organizations in society were organized by Jinishian Memorial Foundation with participation of school students.
Addressing the event, British Ambassador to Armenia Charles Lonsdale said: “We attach importance to work with mass media and NGOs to develop dialogue in the region.”
Referring to the project implemented by the embassy for democracy development, problems settlement and integration into Europe, Lonsdale said that it is of a peace-making nature.
He noted that the embassy also works with the Armenian government on democracy development and human rights protection, what will contribute to establishing stability in the region.
