YEREVAN, April 7. /Mediamax/. The French, Russian, and American co-chairs of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace talks in Key West, Florida, are going to get in contact with Teheran and inform the leadership of Iran of the results of the talks for Karabakh dispute resolution, proceeding this week in Florida, Ambassador Carey Cavanaugh, U.S. chief negotiator for Nagorno Karabakh said Friday evening.
“We are going to inform the governments of the region, including that of Iran, about the success which has been achieved in the talks in Key West”, the American diplomat said in the interview to AFP. At the same time, Cavanaugh said the matter isn’t about the direct involvement of Iran in the Karabakh peace process. Despite the absence of diplomatic ties between the USA and Iran, Teheran is an important “player” in the region and closely follows the developments in Karabakh dispute settlement, Carey Cavanaugh explained.
The diplomat said the mediators are going to inform the leadership of Iran that the international efforts to settle the Karabakh issue do not go against the national interests of Teheran. –0–
