YEREVAN, March 27. /Mediamax/. The AES Silk Road American company has refused to participate in the tender for privatization of the Armenian distributive power networks, Aram Sarkisian, the leader of the Armenian Democratic Party said today at a press-conference quoting reliable sources.
Sarkisian says the realization of the tender is impossible under these circumstances, because after the refusal of the AES Silk Road only two companies are left as pretenders to the purchase of power networks: the Swiss-Swedish ABB company and the Spanish Union Fenosa. In accordance with the terms of the tender, the 4 distributive power networks must be sold in 2 packages (2 networks in each).
It was also announced at the press-conference that 25 parties and organizations comprising the initiative group are going to hold a rally Wednesday evening in the center of Yerevan demanding to consider the tender for privatization of the power networks as “contradicting the interests of country’s national security”. The Municipality of Yerevan hasn’t officially sanctioned the mass rally yet. –0–
