YEREVAN, March 2. /Mediamax/. “Hayastan” All-Armenian Fund representative in Nagorno Karabakh, Boris Alaverdian said providing the city with drinking water is one of most actual problems of NKR capital.
As the correspondent of Mediamax reports from Stepanakert, Alaverdian stressed that after the cessation of active hostilities in Karabakh conflict area, the Fund got to settle this problem.
In particular, a special program was worked out for the construction of circular water supply system in Stepanakert. The first 7 km-long water pipeline, estimated more than 300 thousand dollars, was constructed in 1997-1998 within the framework of the program. The project was sponsored by Armenian communities in Canada and Netherlands. Besides, two reservoirs, holding 2 thousand cubic meters each were constructed in NKR capital. The dam on Traket River is also reconstructed, which allowed to use the second of the three sources, providing the city with drinking water. –0–
