YEREVAN, March 2. /Mediamax/. Chairman of the permanent parliamentary commission for foreign relations of the National Assembly of Armenia, Hovanes Hovanesian said today in the interview to Armenian “Aravot” paper that considerable progress in the Karabakh conflict settlement will be observed during the meeting of Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, to be held on March 4-5 in Paris.
According to Hovanesian, unlike the previous 14 meetings, this one is of special importance. The deputy expressed firm confidence that the negotiations will be based on the document, in accord with which Nagorno Karabakh is not a part of Azerbaijan’s territory.
For the last 10 years the whole world has de facto recognized Nagorno Karabakh as a state, Hovanesian said. For the past 5-6 years top international instances never mentioned Karabakh as a part of Azerbaijan, so Baku has to resign.
“This problem must be resolved fundamentally”, head of the parliamentary commission said. –0–
