YEREVAN, March 2. /Mediamax/. The session of the board of NKR Prosecutor’s Office took place on March 1 under the chairmanship of Prosecutor General Mavr Ghukasian. The results of the work in 2000 were summed up at the session.
As the correspondent of Mediamax was informed in NKR Prosecutor’s Office, first deputy Prosecutor General, Aramayis Avakian assessed the activity in 2000 as satisfactory in his report. As a matter for general supervision 118 check-ups were carried out, which revealed 472 facts of law infringement with instituted proceedings. The Prosecutor’s Office presented 38 statements of claim in the total amount of 343 million drams.
In 2000, 517 crimes were registered on NKR territory, from which 350, including the 79 severe ones, are related to criminal investigation. The number of severe crimes has increased by 14 cases. As the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office informed, the comparative analysis showed that compared with 1999 the number of crimes in 2000 has increased by 4.8%. They stressed however that such rise occurred due to the crimes committed in previous years which were not fixed for some reasons.
It was noted that on the whole 2000 is characterized by increase of severe and large-scale crimes. As a result of the investigation of a number of cases, about 37 million drams are returned to the state from the 40 million drams of damage. –0–
