Increased interest to Chinese language and culture observed in Armenia

On April 20, UN Yerevan’s Office hosted an event to mark the Day of Chinese Language. The events were held within the framework of the Days of Six Official UN languages in Armenia. As UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia Dafina Gercheva stated, the event aims at promoting cultural diversity between the nations.

Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Tian Changchun, in turn, noted that the study of Chinese in Armenia will further strengthen relations between the two countries, also increasing Armenian youth’s awareness of China’s cultural heritage.

YSLU Confucius Institute director specifically stressed increased popularity of Chinese language and culture in Armenia.

Chinese language is the second in popularity worldwide. At present, 1,4 billion people speak Chinese.
